Pilot of the Month - Zakery takes the controls

Photo shows budding hovercraft pilot Zakery Woods at the recent Woking Hospice Classic Car Show attended by Hov Pod Dealer Darren Thatcher.

Darren was very impressed with Zakery's quick understanding of the controls and Zakery's mother Caroline hopes to attend future Hov Pod hovercraft experience days organized by Hov Pod Surrey around the Surrey area (UK).

If you would like details of hovercraft experience days in your area, please contact us for further details. PS Zakery is still a little too young to fly solo.

Hovercraft Charity Event

On Saturday 21 February 2009, Warren Secker of Hov Pod Hovercraft Australia, and his family, ran free rides on the Hov Pod, in exchange for a donation to the Victoria Bushfire Appeal.

Take a look at the images from the event - see bottom of the page, see photos

The Hov Pod flew for almost five hours from 9:30am, in perfect conditions, with no wind and mirror like water, stopping only for fuel. Over 100 smiling people, ranging from an 18 month old little girl to a couple in their 70's had the opportunity to fly across the sand and over the crystal clear water in Raby Bay, experiencing slides and 360 degree spins. Some people even donated twice so they could experience it a second time.

Warren and his family would like to thank the wonderful people who attended, as without their kindness and generosity, they would not have been able to raise almost $600 for the cause.

Hovercraft Experience 2009

A number of Hov Pod dealers and rental operators now offer hovercraft experience rides and hovercraft training. If you haven't experienced hovercraft flying before, then you have something to really look forward to.

Our mini cruiser Hovercraft are built for safety and comfort, though they can reach a top speed of in excess of 40 mph. You fly above the ground at a typical cruising altitude of 9 inches. Hovercraft are especially exciting when traveling over land to water to land transitions.

The ride sensation is hard to put into words, but imagine that you are levitating on a "Back-to-the-Future" type hovercar where you have no contact with the ground. As you are floating, it feels really comfortable, and as you let the revs increase, a blast of air will gently speed you on your way. No wheels, or brakes for that matter, so you can either stop by slowly reducing your speed, or by effecting a controlled 360 spin.

Hovercraft flying is so wonderfully addictive, so make a day of it and bring your friends for a great day out.

PS We still need operators and instructors in some areas, so contact us via the Info button if this opportunity sounds interesting.

Learn to fly ..... Hovercraft

If you have always wanted to fly a hovercraft, and experience the freedom of flight cruising at an altitude of 9 inches, ......... contact us for details of a rental near you.

Curve in long loops, spin in tight turns - hovercraft are quite unique, and leisure hovercrafting is bound to catch on as a hobby in 2009.

The ride is so smooth, yet difficult to describe. With no contact with the ground or brakes for that matter, the ride sensation is perhaps best likened to riding a magic carpet or anti-gravitation vehicle, back from the future.
